Free motion quilting

Img_6460

So much fun! I was not able to find the bed last night. Artista and I had a fantastic evening! I have not made a free motion quilt since I made this bag years ago.

Free motion quilting is therapy. It can be a bit noisy too! I was so thrilled, that I talked to myself several times (loud)....

Take a look here if you would like to try free motion quilting. It's important to use the right foot for your sewing machine. You can se more free motion quilts here and here.

Now the big question is - do I need a par of these.....?! Can anyone tell me, please. Well, back to the quilt. Soon the only thing missing is the binding.

I'm still here

A couple of new patchwork books and a FQ of this beautiful fabric made my two days at work easier.... I think it was pretty hard getting back to work after 12 days off! No creativity for days now. I want to begin a new knit project but I can't find the right one. I need inspiration.

Today I'm working on this WIP. Not much has happened since my last picture. After a cafe-latte and a piece of homebaked banana cake I'm ready to continue!

I want to thank you for you sweet and kind comments about this quilt. My mother-in-law was overwhelmed, when I told her. It was so great telling her!

Bedspread

Img_6447

A gift from my mother-in-law. It's made to fit our double bed and I must say, we needed a new one! As you probably can see, is it made of scrabs. Each and every little piece of fabric scrab has each own story to tell. I like that very much, because it is why I had a big wish of her making us this bedspread. My mother-in-law is demented. Not seriously yet, but we already know, that it will be worse. I wanted this project to remind me - and my family - of her creativity. She still knows how to sew and I know, that she has enjoyed making this gift for us. It doesn't matter that it is not made of beautiful and expensive fabric. It represents my mother-in-law. I love the scrabs from our daughters dresses - made years ago. I love the scrabs from France, which tell me how much my mil loves Provence. Scrabs from old curtains and so much more. All wonderful stories which I love to have in my family, when my MIL won't be able to sew anymore. The back fabric is chosen by me. Only because I was asked!

Matryoshka mini Quilt

Img_6443

Just a small one - approx 10" x 11" (ca. 25 x 28 cm). Because it's a small quilt, I have only quilted round the doll, the green circles and the paisley fabric.

The quilt will be for sale in my Etsy shop later today.

Time for Coffee

Img_6439

Strawberry and Flowers! A coffee cosy for each taste. I have had such a great time making these. Most of all I have really enjoyed to appliqué. I haven't done much of that for years. About tventy years ago I appliquéd all I sewed. My poor son had to wear appliquéd clothes. The coffee cosy fits this coffee maker (six cups I think). Perhaps I will make a tea cosy or two.

Yesterday I found this cute teahouse cosy. Great mix of happy spring fabric!

Flowers and kissing for the romantic coffee drinker.

Img_6435

Linen and strawberry for those who prefer that. It's my favorite, mostly because I really enjoyed sewing it. I hope you have a favorite too. Happy Easter from my sunny spot.

Hexagon Bag

Img_6418

My Japanese inspired hexagon bag is finished. A coulourful and happy bag - I like it. Inside the bag I have used the purple and white fabric too - I wanted the colourful hexagon mix to be the only decoration on the bag.

Img_6422

The back is quilted with just a few leaf seams. Although I have really enjoyed this slow project, I was to lacy to make hexagons on both sides......

Thank you!

Img_6369

The polka dots from Green Gate is a gift from my mother. I had some blue cotton yarn on stash and I asked my dear mother-in-law to crochet some napkins. Lucky for me she said yes! Thank you to both of you.

Img_6371

I got the napkins yesterday and I had to make a placemat right after breakfast today. The placemat is made of linen and cotton. You know, I like the mix of blue and red... Happy Sunday.

Hexagon Inspiration

If only I...... More inspiration here.

WIP

Img_6365

I really enjoy the way my hexagon project is slowly growing.

Img_6367

It's a pleasure to touch every piece of fabric. Some of the hexagons have their own story to tell. Usually I don't like spending too much time on one project, but this WIP is a great way to learn to work with my new best friend. My Bernina does a great job and I love the way, it gives me opportunity to work with both hands on the fabric.! All the time!

Finito!

Img_6355

Yeaha! I'm finished, finito! I did it - it's a victory! The most boring knit project I have ever done. I bought the knit kit on a hot summerday in July 2006. The heat must be the reason that I bought the kit. Rib knitting on needles number 3! Not my cup of tea.

The model (ribbluse med flæser) is from Isager Strik and the yarn is Tvinni wool. You can see the gorgeous colours here.

I think I will let this sweater be my March contribution to my 12 projects in 2008. From UFO to FO. Yeaha!
