Tutorial for making a Leather Bracelet

I've got several questions about making these leather bracelets. I will try to tell you with some pictures.

First of all my husband made this for me

The size is approx. 20 x 40 cm (8" x 16"), but it could be shorter. Notice the nail in the middle.

Now you need some buttons and a leather string 1mm or 2mm (approx. 3 meters). I have used both 1mm and 2mm for the bracelet, I will show you now. If you want, add som beads for decoration. Measure your wrist and add 15cm (6") and cut one piece twice this measurement. I made my piece with the 1mm string. Put a button on the middle of the string.

Now it's time to start making the bracelet!

Now you take another leather string - this one is 2mm. I have used 1mm string for the other bracelets I have made. The lenght of this string is approx. 170 - 200 cm  - depending on the size of the wrist. This bracelet is for my husband and he want it to be more rough that mine. Find the middle of the leather string and make a not - like this. Don't use a nail to big to get the string off, when you are ready!!

IMG_7368

Are you ready to start...?! Great.

IMG_7369

Imagine yourself that you are going to make the number four several times alternately from right to left. Now you are going to move the string on the top.

IMG_7370

Put the string to the right side under the other strings. Now you draw in both string. Then you are going to make the number four in the opposite site

IMG_7373

Repeat it until the bracelet has the size you want.

IMG_7379

Undo the string from the nails.

IMG_7386

Make a not on the string and cut.

IMG_7387

Now you can close your bracelet.

IMG_7388

Now make a knot on the two other ends and cut.

IMG_7392

Now you have you own leather bracelet.

Feel free to send me an e-mail, if you have any questions. I hope you will have fun making your own bracelet. Please use this tutorial for private use only. I love my bracelets!

Udover at dine armbånd er flotte, så bliver jeg altså lækkersulten af at se den billedserie - det ligner fuldstændig lakridssnørebånd ... uhm !

Vi kan da forsøge os med lidt lakridssnørebånd, Dorte.

Thank you for making this tutorial! I'm gonna try to find some leather string and attempt to make one :)

oh good grief! I'm sure you're making that look easier than it really is! Great tutorial! t.xx

Thanks for showing how to make that lovely bracelet! I'm gonna try this for sure!

I just love this tutorial its fantastic!
Diane

Fin tut!

Way cool! I love this! Not only am I going to make one, I'm going to link to this as well. Your tutorial is so well done and your pictures are fantastic!

Cute bracelets! Good tutorial!

Den har jeg lige nuppet... :) Har allerede været lidt igang, for da jeg så dine ar,bånd, bragte det minder frem fra skoletiden. Jeg lavede mange lædderarmbånd på denne måde! :)
Tak for din tutorial! :) – dine armbånd er smukke! :)

- tror armbåndene bliver dette efterårs størst hit! ;)

Thank you! I love those bracelets! I think I will need to try to make one and now I have the know-how!

Hi,
I just sat down to do your braclet. I did not see where it said about how long the second string should be. Is it the same lenght as the starting one? Please let me know, before I start to cut my leather. Thanks Sweetie,
Sondra
