Contemporary Quilts

I sometimes find it difficult to find quilting books which appeal to my style of quilts, so I was quite delighted, when I looked in my new book Make your own contemporary quilts. Different quilt artists have designed twenty projects shown in the book. It's not a how-to-do-a-quilt book if that's what you want. I'm not sure, if I will ever make one of the quilts, but the projects are lovely and give me lots of inspiraiton. That's all I want. See for yourself

Machiko's Gift designed by Hiroko Aono-Billson. The quilt is made of kimono fabrics and the colours are gorgeous! Wish I had a collection of kimonos.

Desert dreaming designed by Diane Groenewegen. Inspired by the exquisite effects of the light at dawn, noon and dusk in the desert of western Australia.

Oxfam flowers designed by Karen Spurgin. This quilt is made of vintage embroidery from the designers grandmother. I think it is fantastic to preserve the embroied flowers in a quilt. Love it!

Three very different quilts. All beautiful in their own way. It's a very inspiring book.

I would love to make a quilt with Libery print. Does anyone know a place to buy Liberty scrabs...?! Perhaps someone want't to make a swap...?!

I'm still here

A couple of new patchwork books and a FQ of this beautiful fabric made my two days at work easier.... I think it was pretty hard getting back to work after 12 days off! No creativity for days now. I want to begin a new knit project but I can't find the right one. I need inspiration.

Today I'm working on this WIP. Not much has happened since my last picture. After a cafe-latte and a piece of homebaked banana cake I'm ready to continue!

I want to thank you for you sweet and kind comments about this quilt. My mother-in-law was overwhelmed, when I told her. It was so great telling her!

Goodies

  End of the first working day in 2008. In the post box I found two delayed Christmas presents. I think I will make a cup of spicy Christmas tea and enjoy my new books! Perhaps I will knit some rib.

  Yesterday I finally used some of my Barefoot Roses fabric for another tissue hugger.  Thank you for swapping with me, Linda. I was lucky to find the red polka dots which is part of the Barefoot Roses collection. I love dots!

Now it's tea time! Have a great day friends. Just one more working day this week and weekend is calling.

New Books

My husband gave me this book for Christmas. He remembered how much I enjoyed the book, when I borrowed it at the library! He's definitely one of the best gift buyers, I know. I like the stitched circles on this skirt. It's fantastic how much these stitches change the look of the skirt! It is a very inspiring books with great pictures. You can see more pictures here.

One of my book wishes for Christmas was this danish patchwork book. I did'nt get it for Christmas - yesterday I had to buy it for myself as a late Christmas gift. It's a great book by Hanne Matthiesen, who make the most inspiring work, which I love very much. Take a look here and see for yourself. If you like sewing with vintage fabric, scrabs and thrifted pillowcases, this is absolutely a book for you. I love the book and the very inspiring pictures in it. The first three people who don't speak a word danish have already ordered the book! Isn't it fantastic being a crafter and blogger.....?!

Hanne Matthiesen sells her work here and I must admit, that I had to buy some of this fantastic thread in the most beautiful colours. I'm afraid that I will keep it wrapped forever. The small bags are very decorating.... You must visit Heaven and Earth's flickr album and see the inspiring pictures.

Giraffer på snor

    Det er da en skøn titel til en bog! Det er med stor fornøjelse, at jeg kan bekendtgøre udgivelsen af bogen, da Maria, som har skrevet bogen sammen med sin søster, er at finde ganske tæt på min bopæl. Hun er nemlig indehaver af butik Liebling, som jeg har omtalt tidligere.

Giraffer på snor er god inspiration til dig der kan li' at være kreativ eller lave projekter sammen med dine børn. Bogen er også krydret med lidt gode opskrifter! Kig i den næste gang du besøger en boghandel - måske kan du glæde dig selv eller en veninde med en bog gave!

Det er jo ingen hemmelighed, at jeg er glad for for Amy Butlers design. Det gælder både hendes vidunderlige stoffer og mønstre. Mine japanske bøger fylder en del på boghylden og i den erkendelse, har jeg endnu en gang ryddet lidt op i mine bøger. En svær opgave! Efter lange overvejelser har jeg besluttet mig for at sælge denne skønne bog Du kan læse mere om bogen her. Mit eksemplar har været åbnet to gange og mønsterdelen er ubrudt. Er du interesseret i at købe bogen, så send mig en mail. Prisen er 95 kr. + 45 kr. i forsendelse. At jeg kun har haft åbnet bogen to gange er ikke et udtryk for, at jeg synes, bogen er kedelig. Jeg har ganske enkelt for mange bøger, så hvis andre kan få mere glæde af min oprydning af og til, så er jeg glad.

Denyse Schmidt er også en af mine favorit designere. På boghylden er et dobbelt køb, nemlig denne bog og Quilt-it Kit. I min  begejstring bestilte jeg begge dele, og Quilt-it Kit indeholder alle mønstre, der er i bogen. I kittet bliver mønstrene dog serveret i form af et dobbelt kort for hvert projekt. Derudover indeholder det også stof til den pude, der er på forsiden af æsken. Prisen på Quilt-it Kit fra DS er 90 kr. + forsendelsen, som jeg er i tvivl om lige nu, da jeg ikke ved, hvor meget boblekuverten vejer. Det er enten 35 kr. eller 45 kr. i forsendelse.
