Last minute Patchwork Christening Gift

IMG_6959

To be honest I didn't think, that I would get this project finished in time. I did and I'm quite satisfied with that. In fact I haven't done anything, since I finished the stitching last weekend. Four hours ago I started to pick up the fabrics, I wanted to use. The back is made of Swell by Moda.

A mix of hens, dots, Matryoshkas and vintage embroidery. Some old and some new. Red, white, pink and blue. I'm finished and ready for the gift wrapping part. I'm ready - no, we are ready - for the Christening tomorrow. These beauties are part of the gift. Have a nice weekend.

WIP - Christening Gift

IMG_6939

Why....?! I ask myself, why I haven't started this project sooner than yesterday. The Christening will take place Sunday next week! But no - instead I had to make pouches, fabric baskets and coasters. That's how I work. I make, what I want to make, when I want to make it. Sounds a bit silly, but I'm sure, you know what I mean. Yesterday I was ready to begin this project and today I really enjoy it. If I don't finish the gift in time, I will have an early Christmas gift. Nothing more to say about that! The scraps are from Yvestown and I love the colourful prints!

Thank you for all your sweet wishes for last night. It was such a great summer night by the sea. We enjoyed every minute and so did the girls, who were home all alone. Tomorrow my husband and I will leave them again - poor children.... This time my mother will join them, while we are away until Sunday celebrating a friends birthday. Date time again - yearh!!

Yes!!

Img_6829 My first finished project for weeks. This small just-for-fun project made my day! I hope to find time to place my behind on the cushion during the weekend. I have a garland waiting for my attention and this neglected quilt too.

First I have to tidy up my fabrics and other crafting stuff. Three days off from work - great! Time to do some work in the house. Have a great weekend!

Artista Dolls

Img_6325_2

I have made a new doll collection named after my new best friend. The friendship is very new and the Artista Dolls is our first project. We work great together, so I hope new projects will come up soon. I feel that I'm letting down a very dear friend. My old Husquarna is 22 years old and I bought the machine after giving birth to my first child in 1986!

Let me introduce you to the Artista Dolls - eight dolls in different colours and different decoration. I like their slanting shape. I had planned to make all dolls in the light blue and white fabric, but I had to try other colours too. Most of the dolls have linen on the back and a couple of them have light purple velvet.

Img_6339_2

One of the dolls is in my favorite colour mix of light blue and red. I think these two colours will be a theme for more Artista Dolls. If you are interested in buying the dolls they will be listed on Etsy soon. Until then feel free to send me an e-mail if you are interested in one of the dolls. You can see a picture of each doll here.

Needle Case

Img_6306_2

Last year I got a request for sewing a needle case. The design was up to me to decide, but this embroidery should be a part of the needle case (I have not made that!).

Thank you, Kate, for being so patient and for giving me all the time I needed for this project. That's how I work. I can't make anything if I really don't want to. Today was the perfect day for this project. I hope you like it.

A look inside the needle case. I love the blue fabric. This project made my day. I finally made it!

My Spring Pouch

Img_6231 Here is the pouch, I mentioned yesterday. I love it! The spring girl is made with small, beautiful stitches. Handmade gifts mean so much to me. I'm sure you know the feeling! Thank you! You can se the rest of the swap here.

I like spending time for making handmade gifts too. I don't do it, if I'm not sure if the receiver will appreciate it!

You can se more of Marie-Louises work here.

Green Elephants and a cute Ladybug

Img_6203 More pincushions! I like the happy green elephants very much. A small polka dotted ladybug is praying for sunny weather.

Here is four new pincushions and more will come. Perhaps someone will like to buy one. If not I will give them as a gift to someone I love. Making pincushions is the perfect project for me these days. So nothing new is going on. Here they are

Do Elephants eat Radishes...?!

Img_6172_2 The goodies from my Embroidery Swap was to tempting! I had to make three pincushions with some of the small pieces from the box.

The weekend has not been as good as hoped for. Yesterday I had to sew something, before I went crazy! Making these three pincushions made my day. I have said it many times, I know, but I just love to mix colours, romantic, beautiful and silly fabric. I have so much fun doing that! The pincushion in the front has hippos on the back and the second one has lime elephants.

The pincushions will be for sale. Send me an e-mail if you are interested. I'm planning to sell from my etsy store in near future. More pictures here

Embroidery Swap

As I mentioned the other day it can be difficult to find embroidery in the second hand shops in my area. Then I got a mail from Hanne, who wanted to swap with me. She lives in Jutland and she knows where to find second hand stuff! Just take a look here to see her work(the name of her website is Tulips and Tomatoes!). Here you can see some of the stuff Hanne sent me

Deja vue

Img_6093_3   I'm sorry that I'm not able to show you a new inspiring model, when I finally have a finished knit project to show you. These baby vests are perfect to knit when you watch tv.

This one is for a baby boy, size 6 month - the only problem is that I don't know a baby boy... The yarn is Gepard Retro, soft merino, which I can only recommend.

I think I will knit the next baby vest in silk/alpaca. This yarn is so soft and perfect for sweet babies - perhaps not for their parents, who must handwash the vest....

If you want to practice some stitching - like me - you must visit Stitch 2008. A new motif for each month, links and so much inspiration. I wish I had the courage to join the group. Instead I will follow their work and read all their good advices. You should do the same!
