WIP - Christening Gift

IMG_6939

Why....?! I ask myself, why I haven't started this project sooner than yesterday. The Christening will take place Sunday next week! But no - instead I had to make pouches, fabric baskets and coasters. That's how I work. I make, what I want to make, when I want to make it. Sounds a bit silly, but I'm sure, you know what I mean. Yesterday I was ready to begin this project and today I really enjoy it. If I don't finish the gift in time, I will have an early Christmas gift. Nothing more to say about that! The scraps are from Yvestown and I love the colourful prints!

Thank you for all your sweet wishes for last night. It was such a great summer night by the sea. We enjoyed every minute and so did the girls, who were home all alone. Tomorrow my husband and I will leave them again - poor children.... This time my mother will join them, while we are away until Sunday celebrating a friends birthday. Date time again - yearh!!

Summer Coasters

IMG_6914

A set of four linen mushroom coasters. You might think, I have made a copy cat, but no. That's what happens, when crafters sometimes get the same idea. I like the green touch, Kajsa has given her coasters.

Four strawberry coasters made in light pink linen from Små Tekstiler. I have the same linen in chocolate brown and light green. The coasters will be listed in my Etsy shop soon. The picture of these coasters inspired me to make a big strawberry cake! I will do that in a while and invite my family to a tea party in the garden. Tonight I have invited my beloved for dinner in town. We are both looking forward to be sweethearts tonight!

.....later in the afternoon!

Happy Tuesday

IMG_6911

I got note books too! Thanks for telling me, Dorte. You are such a dear friend. The babuska you gave me is smiling here next to me - happy to have new friends! Happy Tuesday to you too!

The Housewife Society

IMG_6901

My dear friend, Helle, and I have decided, that every prober housewife must have a peg apron. Not that we consider ourselves as prober housewives - not at all! We don't want to be prober housewives, we want to be happy housewives. With such a friend as Helle, it is very easy to be a happy housewife and a happy friend too. We talk about every thing and have so much fun doing it. I really mean everything... Sometimes we get the same idea without knowing it. We can buy yarn and pattern for the same project, without knowing. In the same colour too! We have had many laughs about that. It's spooky - but we like it! Thanks to Helle I'm a blogger. It's nearly four years ago, that I searched on the internet for knitting patterns and found her blog. We have been best friends since.

Here is my peg apron. I love it - I had so much fun making it. When it was finished, I laughed. I think it is great to make tissueholders, pouches, fabric baskets and now a peg apron. Who on earth is able to live without stuff like that....?! I'm not - it makes me a better housewife, mother, wife and friend. That's reason enough for me to continue making unnecessary stuff. Because it is not unnecessary at all. I'm still laughing.... I love the smile from my husband, when I run down the stairs to show him a new project. That smile proofs that making such stuff make me a happy wife.

Linen and Flowers

IMG_6899

One more fabric basket. This one is for crafting stuff and I love it! I wish my English was good enough to make a tutorial, because I'm having so much fun making these fabric baskets. I want to share it with someone! I have made the basket in linen - which we love so much, don't we...? - and the beautiful green fabric is from the Pastel Antique Flower Collection by Lecien. Inside the basket I have used pink Gingham like this. I have used some swap stuff too, and I'm sure that some of you will recognize something on the picture. Thank you so much!

Yesterday I visited two local second hand shops and I was lucky! I found these goodies. I love the vintage buttons and the paper card. I'm sure, that I will find it very hard to use the buttons.

I'm so happy to be able to write this post. We have been without internet since yesterday and we were told, that it could last 5-6 weeks before it would be fixed. Crisis.... While I'm writing this post, my beloved is busy trying to fix all computers in our home (we all have our own....). He is the best - as always!

Have a nice evening. I'm looking forward to three days off from work.

Fabric Basket

IMG_6888

Who can live without a fabric basket....?! All of us I guess. It didn't keep me from making one today. This one is for the crocheted napkins my mother in law made for us. I think the next one will be for crafting stuff. Take a look at this gorgeous basket made by my friend, Jasna.

Today I was told, that I have won a gift certificate for 50$ to Amazon.com. I love books and I always have wishes for new books but I'm not able to decide which books to buy.... Perhaps I will buy Pretty Little Patchwork. If you can recommend me a great knitting or sewing book do say so!

Vintage Embroidery

IMG_6879

Pink Gingham - a favorite of mine! Mixed with green it's even better. I know, it's the same old story about pouch making! I can promise you, that more will come. The vintage embroidery is from this gorgeous swap. It's great to use swap stuff and think about the person, who sent it to your. I like that. This way every piece of work has it own little story.

I hope to make some free style quilting soon. I have a sheep project waiting for my attention. I wish I had more time.... I'm looking forward to my monthly Friday off from work next week.

The cutest Gift

IMG_6876

Look what I've got! Two tiny and very cute hedgehogs. When I saw these, I fell in love! Thank you, Erna, for sending me such a great gift. You made my day!

One more pouch with Elsa Beskow transfer - this time I have used checkered fabric in light blue and white (approx. 18 x 25 cm.) IMG_6873

The zipper pouches will be listed on Etsy soon. This one is my favorite. I'm making a pink and white checkered too!

Zipper Pouches

Img_6864_3

Two linen pouches with Elsa Beskow transfers. I love her books and beautiful vintage motifs from a fantastic world. Reading her books make me want to visit her wonderful fantasy world.

Img_6860

It's not a secret, that I enjoy making pouches. You are free to use every kind of fabrics, patterns, colours and so on. Use your imagination - it's great. It's a perfect project, when you are not in the mood for a bigger project - or don't have the time for it. Today I needed to finish something just to see, that I'm still able to sew.....

I hope, you have great Sunday.

Retro Owl and hexagon Dreams

Img_6850Orange and green retro owl (approx. 17 cm). I had to start the day with just a tiny project. After cleaning up all day yesterday, I just had to sew although we are not all finished. Today we are having a break and we will go to the beach for a walk, eat the first ice cream this summer and just enjoy the day.

Img_2 I have planned to place a couple of mattresses in the new room. We don't have space for a guest room. I had an idea about decorating the mattresses and today I looked in a back issue of Boligliv. I was looking for a recipe for a strawberry salad and found this great corner. It was love at first sight! Hexagon love. Perhaps a project for the summer holiday....?! I could ask my mother-in-law to make us a new quilt. I don't know yet, but I have a hexagon dream.
