Coasters

IMG_7015

Set of four coasters made of fabric from the Park Slope collection mixed with dots and gingham. Making coasters is great! If you haven't done it before, you must try it. It's also a great way to use fabric from stash and then there is space for new fabrics. Use linen, cotton or what ever you want and make your own personal coasters.

This set is a gift for a dear friend of mine - hope she likes my gift!

Contemporary Quilts

I sometimes find it difficult to find quilting books which appeal to my style of quilts, so I was quite delighted, when I looked in my new book Make your own contemporary quilts. Different quilt artists have designed twenty projects shown in the book. It's not a how-to-do-a-quilt book if that's what you want. I'm not sure, if I will ever make one of the quilts, but the projects are lovely and give me lots of inspiraiton. That's all I want. See for yourself

Machiko's Gift designed by Hiroko Aono-Billson. The quilt is made of kimono fabrics and the colours are gorgeous! Wish I had a collection of kimonos.

IMG_0001

Desert dreaming designed by Diane Groenewegen. Inspired by the exquisite effects of the light at dawn, noon and dusk in the desert of western Australia.

IMG_0002

Oxfam flowers designed by Karen Spurgin. This quilt is made of vintage embroidery from the designers grandmother. I think it is fantastic to preserve the embroied flowers in a quilt. Love it!

Three very different quilts. All beautiful in their own way. It's a very inspiring book.

I would love to make a quilt with Libery print. Does anyone know a place to buy Liberty scrabs...?! Perhaps someone want't to make a swap...?!

Last minute Patchwork Christening Gift

IMG_6959

To be honest I didn't think, that I would get this project finished in time. I did and I'm quite satisfied with that. In fact I haven't done anything, since I finished the stitching last weekend. Four hours ago I started to pick up the fabrics, I wanted to use. The back is made of Swell by Moda.

IMG_6955

A mix of hens, dots, Matryoshkas and vintage embroidery. Some old and some new. Red, white, pink and blue. I'm finished and ready for the gift wrapping part. I'm ready - no, we are ready - for the Christening tomorrow. These beauties are part of the gift. Have a nice weekend.

Summer Coasters

IMG_6914

A set of four linen mushroom coasters. You might think, I have made a copy cat, but no. That's what happens, when crafters sometimes get the same idea. I like the green touch, Kajsa has given her coasters.

IMG_6920

Four strawberry coasters made in light pink linen from Små Tekstiler. I have the same linen in chocolate brown and light green. The coasters will be listed in my Etsy shop soon. The picture of these coasters inspired me to make a big strawberry cake! I will do that in a while and invite my family to a tea party in the garden. Tonight I have invited my beloved for dinner in town. We are both looking forward to be sweethearts tonight!

.....later in the afternoon!

The Housewife Society

IMG_6901

My dear friend, Helle, and I have decided, that every prober housewife must have a peg apron. Not that we consider ourselves as prober housewives - not at all! We don't want to be prober housewives, we want to be happy housewives. With such a friend as Helle, it is very easy to be a happy housewife and a happy friend too. We talk about every thing and have so much fun doing it. I really mean everything... Sometimes we get the same idea without knowing it. We can buy yarn and pattern for the same project, without knowing. In the same colour too! We have had many laughs about that. It's spooky - but we like it! Thanks to Helle I'm a blogger. It's nearly four years ago, that I searched on the internet for knitting patterns and found her blog. We have been best friends since.

IMG_6906

Here is my peg apron. I love it - I had so much fun making it. When it was finished, I laughed. I think it is great to make tissueholders, pouches, fabric baskets and now a peg apron. Who on earth is able to live without stuff like that....?! I'm not - it makes me a better housewife, mother, wife and friend. That's reason enough for me to continue making unnecessary stuff. Because it is not unnecessary at all. I'm still laughing.... I love the smile from my husband, when I run down the stairs to show him a new project. That smile proofs that making such stuff make me a happy wife.

Linen and Flowers

IMG_6899

One more fabric basket. This one is for crafting stuff and I love it! I wish my English was good enough to make a tutorial, because I'm having so much fun making these fabric baskets. I want to share it with someone! I have made the basket in linen - which we love so much, don't we...? - and the beautiful green fabric is from the Pastel Antique Flower Collection by Lecien. Inside the basket I have used pink Gingham like this. I have used some swap stuff too, and I'm sure that some of you will recognize something on the picture. Thank you so much!

Yesterday I visited two local second hand shops and I was lucky! I found these goodies. I love the vintage buttons and the paper card. I'm sure, that I will find it very hard to use the buttons.

I'm so happy to be able to write this post. We have been without internet since yesterday and we were told, that it could last 5-6 weeks before it would be fixed. Crisis.... While I'm writing this post, my beloved is busy trying to fix all computers in our home (we all have our own....). He is the best - as always!

Have a nice evening. I'm looking forward to three days off from work.

Fabric Basket

IMG_6888

Who can live without a fabric basket....?! All of us I guess. It didn't keep me from making one today. This one is for the crocheted napkins my mother in law made for us. I think the next one will be for crafting stuff. Take a look at this gorgeous basket made by my friend, Jasna.

Today I was told, that I have won a gift certificate for 50$ to Amazon.com. I love books and I always have wishes for new books but I'm not able to decide which books to buy.... Perhaps I will buy Pretty Little Patchwork. If you can recommend me a great knitting or sewing book do say so!

Retro Owl and hexagon Dreams

Img_6850Orange and green retro owl (approx. 17 cm). I had to start the day with just a tiny project. After cleaning up all day yesterday, I just had to sew although we are not all finished. Today we are having a break and we will go to the beach for a walk, eat the first ice cream this summer and just enjoy the day.

Img_2 I have planned to place a couple of mattresses in the new room. We don't have space for a guest room. I had an idea about decorating the mattresses and today I looked in a back issue of Boligliv. I was looking for a recipe for a strawberry salad and found this great corner. It was love at first sight! Hexagon love. Perhaps a project for the summer holiday....?! I could ask my mother-in-law to make us a new quilt. I don't know yet, but I have a hexagon dream.

Yes!!

Img_6829 My first finished project for weeks. This small just-for-fun project made my day! I hope to find time to place my behind on the cushion during the weekend. I have a garland waiting for my attention and this neglected quilt too.

First I have to tidy up my fabrics and other crafting stuff. Three days off from work - great! Time to do some work in the house. Have a great weekend!

Checkered House Purse

Img_6545

A Japanese inspired house purse (approx. 15 x 15 cm) for keys, money or whatever you prefer. This project has been on the to-do-list since I got this book. Today was the day.

Sometimes I ask myself why a 48 years old women loves making pouches with hedgehogs, appliqued strawberries..... It's not because I expect people to buy them. I just have so much fun making them! It's not possible not to make them. That's reason enough for me.

The purse is for sale in my Etsy Shop.
